Operation Family Support: Strengthening Military Families
Over the past year, the Child Crisis Center (CCC) discovered that the community was largely unaware of and uneducated about the issues and needs of current military families. In the fall of 2007, CCC began holding monthly roundtable discussion groups with military family members, Veterans' issues experts and social service providers to begin the development of Operation Family Support (OFS). By February 2008, the roundtable successfully planned and implemented a community training event with 65 participants from throughout Arizona. The day's agenda included information about the Cycles of Deployment, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Military Sexual Abuse.

Operation Family Support is being touted by the Governor's Office as a community based model of support. OFS is actively developing additional areas of support with the help of roundtable partners. For more information contact: kidsfirst@childcrisis.org.
